None of the Indian Universities Rank in the Top 100 List
A recently released list of the top 100 Universities in the World has come as a shock to me. I was surprised to see none of the Indian Universities ranking among the top 100 Varsities of the world. What surprised me most was the fact that even University of Hong Kong is ranking at 24. No prices for guessing, most of the positions in the top 100 list are taken by U.K and U.S Universities. According to the report, America’s Harvard University has maintained its top position in 2009. Next, U.K.’s Cambridge University has journeyed up from third to second position. Yale University of US has fallen one position and is the third in ranking.
After the final list, UK is still showing the thump above its weight. Second position is held by U.S. U.S has begged four out of the top 10 slots and 18 in the top 100.
There are 14 to 16 numbers of Asian Universities in the list of top hundred. The University of Tokyo ranked 22 in the list and it is the highest among the Asian Universities. Besides Tokyo University, the University of Hong Kong stands at 24. Leading UK Universities said, institutions in Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong are cracking at the heels of western institutions, to give a clash they need additional financial support to compete on the global stage.
To me, this is a big shame for all of the Indian Universities which make false claims of being world-class.
